Mount Pleasant school officials - reacting to a recent incident where a ninth-grader was accused of making a "disturbing" comment -- are praising students for their vigilance and asking that they, parents and staff all continue to be "kind and caring to one another." Westlake High School Student Threat Leads To Increased Police Patrols
The Mount Pleasant Central School District was on high alert and police beefed up patrols after a Thornwood teenager issued potentially threatening verbal comments at Westlake High School and on social media, warning students not to go to class on Friday. According to Mount Pleasant Schools Superintendent Susan Guiney, after learning about the alleged threats from some of his classmates, the high school administration met with the student, his parents and the Mount Pleasant Police Department.

Thornwood Man Among Five Charged In $33M Mortgage Fraud Conspiracy
Five people, including one from White Plains and one from Yonkers, have been indicted in a $33 million mortgage fraud conspiracy in Westchester and Putnam counties, according to Preet Bharara, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York. The five defendants -- Bruce Lewis, 54 and Jacqueline Graham, 47, who are both still at large, Anthony Vigna, 59, of Thornwood, Rocco Cermele, 54, of Yonkers, and Paula Guadagno, 58, of White Plains -- are accused of committing bank fraud, wire fraud, and mail fraud in connection with a debt-elimination scheme to defraud homeowners and banks, Bharara said.
